How to Set Up Claude for Social Media: Find the TikTok Trends Worth Copying This Week

Claude can't see what's trending on TikTok by itself. This 5-minute setup connects it to Virlo's database of 20M+ viral videos and a free trends skill, so it tells you which content trends to copy this week, early or late, and your version of each.

The short version

To set up Claude for social media trends, create a Virlo account, connect Claude to Virlo as a custom connector (https://dev.virlo.ai/api/mcp/mcp), upload the free social-media-trends skill, then ask: "What content trends should I copy this week? I sell [what you sell]." Claude answers with this week's content trends, whether each one is early or late, and a version written for your business. It takes about 5 minutes.

Claude can't see what's trending on social media by itself. Ask it cold and it guesses, or it describes trends from months ago. This setup connects it to Virlo's database of 20M+ viral videos, where a short list of content trends is updated every week, and a person on our team approves each one before it shows up.

Every prompt below is in a code block you can copy.

Want to see the data first? This week's current TikTok trends are on one page, updated weekly. This setup gives you the same data on demand, for your niche, whenever you ask.

What does each content trend come with?

Claude breaking down the Paparazzi bowing trend for a project management software company, with data from Virlo: Rising, 33 creators this week vs 22, keep the same, make it yours and your version

Each content trend comes with:

  • Keep the same: what everyone copies (the sound, the line, the transition).

  • Make it yours: what you swap in (your product, your place, your team).

  • Early or late: its stage, plus how many creators posted it this week vs last week.

  • Fit: whether it suits your kind of business (B2B / SaaS, consumer brand, local business, clinic).

Want to see what that looks like with live numbers? This week's current TikTok trends are on one page.

How do you set it up? (about 5 minutes)

Step 1: Create your Virlo account

Create your Virlo account. It's a 7-day free trial, and you aren't charged on day one.

Step 2: Connect Claude to Virlo

Open claude.ai, go to Settings, then Connectors, then "Add custom connector". Name it Virlo, paste this URL and click Connect:

https://dev.virlo.ai/api/mcp/mcp

Sign in with your Virlo account. In each new chat, click + then Connectors and turn Virlo on.

Claude Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, with the Virlo URL pasted in

Using Claude Code instead? Run this line, then type /mcp and sign in:

claude mcp add --transport http virlo https://dev.virlo.ai/api/mcp/mcp

(Using Claude Desktop, Cowork or OpenClaw? Here's how to connect Virlo to each of them.)

Step 3: Add the free trends skill

Download the skill (social-media-trends.zip). Then in Claude go to Customize, then Skills, then +, then "Upload a skill", and drop the zip in. Code execution has to be on (Settings, then Capabilities).

Claude Customize, Skills, Upload a skill

In Claude Code, unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ instead.

Step 4: Ask for this week's content trends

In a new chat with Virlo on, say what you sell:

What content trends should I copy this week? I sell [WHAT YOU SELL].
Asking Claude which content trends a project management software company should copy this week, and getting 3 it can film

Here's what it gave a project management software company this week: the shaking head AI meme (147 creators this week, up from 0), guessing my exam grade (57, up from 0) and the Paparazzi bowing trend (33, up from 22), each with a version the team can film, like two teammates bowing on the beat drop to reveal a new feature. No dance trends, because the skill only picks trends that fit what you sell.

The first time, the skill asks 4 short questions about your business. After that, it answers straight away.

What are the 3 prompts the skill runs?

You don't need to type these, because the skill runs them for you. They're here so you can see exactly what Claude is doing, or run them without the skill.

This week's content trends, with early or late

Use Virlo's get_content_trends to pull this week's live
content trends (client_fit: [b2b_saas / consumer_brand /
local_business / clinic_healthcare], brand_safety: safe,
examples: 3).

For each content trend give me:
1. Name, stage (Fresh, Rising, Peaking or Fading) and
creators this week vs last week
2. Early or late: Fresh or Rising = early, Peaking = post
   now, Fading = late
3. Keep the same / Make it yours (from constant_part and
   swapped_part)
4. Whether it fits [WHAT I SELL, one line], using
   client_fit, effort and tone
5. 2 example video links, recipe-checked ones first

Rank them by creators this week. Never read the last 7
days of the chart as a drop: those days are still being
counted. Never invent a number.

Your version of one content trend, with a script

Use Virlo's get_content_trend on [CONTENT TREND NAME or id]
and read all its examples.

Then write my version for [WHAT I SELL, one line]:
1. Keep the same: copy what every version keeps, exactly
2. Make it yours: what I swap in (my product, my place,
   my team)
3. A shot list I can film on my phone today
4. On-screen text and caption, in my voice: [3 words]
5. The 2 example videos I should watch before filming

Tell me if it's early or late, and say so plainly if it
doesn't fit my business.

The weekly content trends sheet

Build my weekly content trends sheet from Virlo's
get_content_trends (client_fit: [my client type],
brand_safety: safe, examples: 3).

Make it a one-page sheet with 4 parts:
1. The content trends, ranked by creators this week vs
   last week, with the stage
2. How each one works: Keep the same / Make it yours
3. Fit for [WHAT I SELL]: yes, maybe or no, plus effort
   and tone
4. Proof: 2 example links each, recipe-checked first, paid
   videos marked as ads

Then pick the 3 I should film this week, one line each on
why, whether I'm early or late, and my version in one
sentence.

How do you keep it running every week?

New content trends land on the list through the week. Open a new chat each Monday and type:

Run my weekly content trends sheet

You get the 3 to film that week, early or late on each, and your version of every one.

FAQ

Can Claude see TikTok trends on its own?

No. Without a data connection, Claude only knows what was in its training data, so it can't tell you what's trending this week. Connecting it to Virlo gives it live trend data from TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Does this work in Claude Code too?

Yes. Add Virlo with claude mcp add --transport http virlo https://dev.virlo.ai/api/mcp/mcp, sign in through /mcp, and unzip the skill into ~/.claude/skills/.

What does it cost?

The skill is free. Virlo has a 7-day free trial, and reading content trends doesn't use credits.

Don't want to use Claude?

You can see every content trend straight in the Virlo web app. Here's how to find trends on TikTok in Virlo, step by step.

Key takeaways

  • Claude can't see trends by itself, so connect it to a live source first.

  • The setup is 4 steps: account, connector, skill, one question.

  • Every trend comes with what to keep, what to make yours, and whether you're early or late.

  • Run the weekly sheet every Monday and film the 3 it picks.
